If you have points through a credit card, this is a perfect opportunity to use them! Normally, flying direct is expensive. If you are willing to have a layover or two, this will significantly reduce your cost. Sometimes, booking a one-way ticket is a cheaper option versus booking a roundtrip ticket. Airlines know we pick things based on convenience! Once you are in Western Europe, it is quite easy to get around (bus, train, plane). If you want to fly, oftentimes you can fly direct into ANY major airport in Europe and then take a budget airline to your final destination. Europe has amazing highspeed railway systems, and if it fits in your schedule, don't count them out! Some can be pretty luxurious with great views you wouldn't otherwise get to see. Buses are a great budget option that I have used many times while in Europe. They are a slower transportation option, so plan accordingly.

Pisa, Florence, Rome, Milan

Listed above are all the major cities in Italy that you can fly into before heading to Tuscany. Pisa and Florence are the closest cities to Tuscany, but if you are planning to travel before the wedding, all of these airports can eventually get you to Tuscany.
