How we met

Rebecca and Byron met long before they even knew what love was. Their parents have been best friends all their lives. Their families spent almost every weekend and summer vacation together. If you were to look back at old photographs of them you would find a photo of Rebecca dressed up as snow white and Byron dressed up as a sheriff, they were about 3 years old when this photo was taken. As Rebecca and Byron grew up, they quickly became great friends. After they made it past the boys have "cooties" stage they both started to realize they may be something more than just friends. Fast forward to Rebecca's freshman year of high school (Byron was a sophomore) they could no longer continue to pretend that they hadn't fallen for each other. On September 18th, 2012 they decided to date, and as many say "the rest is history." As of now they have both graduated college, Rebecca will soon be working as an intensive care nurse at Wake Forest Baptist Health and Byron as an associate pastor, they are still each others best friend and more in love than ever.

The Proposal (Byron's version)

12/13/2018

Rebecca and I had always talked about getting married, and she had always hinted at the kind of rings that she liked. I got this idea that I would go look at rings around Thanksgiving of 2018 in just a couple short days of looking I had found the perfect ring that I just knew she would love. One step is finished now I have got to plan the perfect proposal I told my self. I began thinking of what that looked like to me. One of our favorite times of the year is Christmas, and she had been wanting to go to Biltmore to tour the house and grounds. So I got the idea that I would ask the girl of my dreams to marry me at the Biltmore Estate. I planned our day at the Biltmore house, I found a photographer that could capture our special day. I asked Rebecca's parents for their blessing and they gladly said yes. The only thing left to do now is have our exciting day at Biltmore. I could not wait for this day to get here fast enough, but finally it was here. We embark on our journey to Asheville with 18 inches of snow on the ground. On our way we talked about the kind and style of ring that she would like what the perfect proposal would look like and different things, she had no clue what was going to take place. We did many different things throughout the day there on the property as time passed I became more and more excited. The time drew near and the photographer texted me to inform me that she had gotten there early and was in place if I wanted to propose early. That was not even a question of course I did I was so excited. We journeyed up to the place and I noticed the photographer sitting on the snow covered hill, I knelt down in front of the Large Christmas tree and in front of the house and asked my best friend, the girl of my dreams to be my wife. The pure shock and excitement in her face was the icing on the cake. It was one of the best days of my life as we finished out our evening and journeyed back home it was just amazing.

The Proposal (Rebecca's version)

12/13/2018

It all started when Byron asked me what I wanted for my birthday. My reply was "I want to go somewhere and spend the day together, Ive never been to Biltmore." Byron replied that he would handle everything. A few weeks later he told me we would be going to Biltmore on December 13th. Perfect! I thought to myself, that would be right after I finished up final exams. Of course the weather had other intentions in mind. As the week approached snow began to fall causing my biggest final to be rescheduled for December 14th. I called Byron to explain there was no way I could take the day before a major final and go to Biltmore instead of studying. He calmly asked me to please see what I could do to keep the date the same. Of course at this time he knew things that I did not! I finally decided that I would make it work and we could go. On December 13th, 2018 Byron and I traveled up to Biltmore with snow on the ground. The most magical experience I have ever had! To this day I still do not know how Byron got this all past me, I had no clue!! We spent the entire day at Biltmore and around 3:30 Byron told me we had an excursion booked in front of the house. With me being as oblivious as ever, we headed up to the overlook in front of the house. I remember Byron being out in front of me and I was wondering to myself why he was walking so fast, today I know that it was because his nerves had finally kicked in. When we got to the over look Byron asked if we could take a selfie, as I turned my head around to fix my hair, (typical girl things) I turned around to the man of my dreams, the love of my life, my childhood sweetheart, the most compassionate, selfless man Ive ever known down on one knee. As you can imagine It was not a hard question when he said "Rebecca Lee Redmond you mean the world to me will you please marry me" with tears in both his and my eyes I said "yes" without a single doubt in my mind. This moment will forever be cherished in my heart.
