What to wear - at the BBQ (Friday evening) This is a more casual event so you do not need to be fancy. Wear what you would to a family BBQ and allows you to play bags, bocce ball, etc. Tony will likely be wearing shorts and a floral button up. Allison in a nice summer dress. What to wear - at the wedding (Saturday afternoon/evening)? While this is a camp wedding, we are hoping everyone will dress-up for the wedding. Black tie attire would be too fancy vs jeans and a t-shirt too casual. What not to wear - footwear We do not recommend wearing stilettos. Wedge heels should be ok. Many of the events will be outside and the ground could be soft in many areas.
We met the new old fashioned way, ONLINE! Although we almost didn't make it to the first date as Allison initially backed out (you know medical school, interviewing for residency, and only living in MN for 3 months is not exactly the best time for dating). Thankfully her loved ones talked some sense into her (what is there to lose?). She messaged Tony 3 days later after cancelling and he was very understanding and a gentleman about it, BUT he did make Allison plan the first date. She took him to good old Mall of America (he still judges her for this but she thinks it was perfect, we are getting married after all). We did traditional dinner and drinks, asked all the questions you aren't supposed to on the first date, and then got our adrenaline pumping adventuring into Nickelodeon Universe for a high ropes course and zipline across the mall. We are both afraid of heights so there was lots of bonding over our mutual fear. Allison worked the next day but Tony quickly planned their second date for the following day and the rest is history! It must be noted that Tony did not fart in front of Allison until the 3rd date! And she was immensely grateful she no longer needed to hold it in :)
It was hard to keep a secret but Tony managed to surprise Allison (mostly). Allison came home after her first week of work to a note and chocolates on the kitchen table. The note was a love letter and instructions to be ready to be picked up by her brother Alex. Alex picked her up and drove her to Robbinsdale to a pier over a frozen lake. When Allison got out of the car, Tony was waiting for her at the end. Tony got a little teary eyed when he first saw Allison but composed himself to say a few words. He had written vows to share with one another and got down on one knee and asked the big question and...Allison said yes! They were excited to share the moment with their friend Aubrey who photographed their special moments. Before heading off to dinner, Allison helped Tony screw back in the gait that had been blocking the pier entrance. Tony had unscrewed it for the special occasion. Breaking the law for love! Allison and Tony spent the rest of the evening at Travail, a fancy restaurant and cocktail experience in Robbinsdale. It was a special evening with many courses, cocktails, smiles, and memories. They can't wait to return for a special anniversary.
