Devon and Allison met in Athens, Georgia at The Grill; a classic Athens diner. They both worked there off and on at various points in time. Devon first remembers meeting Allison when he came in as a customer after a night out; she was working as a server. Allison doesn't remember meeting Devon until months later when he picked up a cook shift during Athens' annual "Twilight" bicycle race. Despite their paths crossing several times, Devon and Allison didn't actually spend time together until months later. They both happened to need a beer around 4am, and the only place to get one at that time was the office of The Grill (where they kept the back stock). They spent the night there together and when the sun came up, they drove Allison's Jeep out into the country to Watson Mill State Park. They spent the morning together sitting on a rock in the middle of the South Fork Broad River. Over the next several years, Devon and Allison shared many adventures together. They moved to Virginia, added a second dog and a second cat to their fur family, and started new careers. Both loving to travel, so far they've taken trips to Costa Rica, Belize, and a two week trip up the entire west coast. Almost 5 years after their "first date" to Watson Mill State Park, Devon took Allison back with their dogs in tow. Sitting on the same rock they had years before, Devon proposed! Devon and Allison had their wedding all planned out when the Covid-19 pandemic began. Due to Allison's increased risk of exposure through working in the Emergency Department, and to protect the people they care about most, they decided to postpone their wedding a year. However, they couldn't wait any longer to be married so on October 29, 2020, they eloped in the mountains in Virginia. Devon and Allison are excited for this new chapter of their lives, and to celebrate their marriage with their friends and family!
