Our story started back in 2022 in our freshman year at Calvin. We had an early interaction during the first few days of orientation where we both said hi, but nothing more. Little did we know at that time we would be getting married a few years later! In our second semester, we had chemistry and biology classes together. After a few weeks of class, Matt finally worked up the courage to talk to Allie after class. He walked up to her after a chemistry test and they talked about how difficult they thought the test was. Both of us were happy to hear that the other thought it was equally as hard. We ended up getting the exact same scores (which weren’t very good). A month or two later after talking and getting to know each other better, Matt asked Allie to be his girlfriend. As the relationship progressed, Matt and Allie grew closer and fell more and more in love. It wasn’t long before we both knew that we found our best friend and forever person. We have created many great memories throughout our relationship, enjoying quality time with each other and spending time with friends, and family. We both share a love for sports, staying active with walks, hikes, and workouts, while enjoying friendly competition in basketball, pickleball, and ping pong. We also have a fun rivalry as Matt is a big University of Michigan fan, while Allie is a diehard Michigan State fan. On July 19th, Matt and Allie were walking the beach on Lake Michigan when Matt got down on one knee and popped the big question. Allie stood there in shock and gave Matt a big hug. It wasn’t till a few minutes after the proposal that she realized she forgot to say yes! We are both so excited to get married and for the many memories to come! We cannot wait to celebrate with you on May 30th!
