How We Met

March 4, 2015

It all started with a beer...he had a Corona and I was drinking Bud Light. We kept staring at each other across that bar the entire night. I went up to grab a drink and Nick approached me and asked me what I was drinking. Bud Light (I asked confused because I didn't know he was flirting)? Time seemed to stand still, we chatted until the bar closed down and I put my number in his phone. Our first unofficial date was completely unplanned. I was working a late night in my undergraduate microbial ecology lab and he called me saying he "happened" to be driving around in Long Beach and wanted to see if I wanted to grab some dessert. I remember thinking, "I did not prepare for this" but something inside told me to say yes. I had an hour incubation for my cells, so I told him to come by to pick me up. We went to get frozen yogurt and I was so nervous I put EVERY SINGLE TOPPING on my yogurt. Of course, Nick laughed it off. On our first official date Nick surprised me and took me to the Aquarium of the Pacific! What he didn't tell me until he picked me up for our date was it was actually going to be a double date. Yikes! We spent the day watching fish, being silly and learning more about each other. As Nick was about to drop me off I didn't want the date to end. I asked him if he wanted to go sit on the beach and watch the sunset. We went to the beach and sat on the sand for hours just talking about life. It felt so natural, like I had known this man for my entire life. That night is when I first realized we had something special. Over the past five years our relationship has continued to grow stronger every single day as we continue to learn more about one another and ourselves. We both love hiking, camping and dogs especially DOGS! We have two doggie children: Cowboy and Whiskey! Hint: they might be making an appearance on the big day. Woof Woof. We are so excited to be tying the knot especially since we get to do it surrounded by the people we love most. Let's do this!
