Things To Do in ATL

Here are a few of our favorite things to do in and around ATL. There are a few activities within walking distance on the Beltline, but keep in mind that you might have to drive or rideshare between neighborhoods, so plan accordingly!
Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park

Atlanta, GA 30309

Piedmont Park is one of ATL's gems, conveniently located within walking distance of Midtown, and right by our place. This is one of Allie's favorite places to run, and both of us love to watch the ducks and turtles at the lake. The gazebo on the lake is where Megan proposed!

Atlanta Botanical Garden

Atlanta Botanical Garden

1345 Piedmont Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30309

The ATL Botanical Garden is right by our place and within walking distance of Midtown. Check out the orchids, the canopy walk, and the frog ponds, and grab a bite at Longleaf Restaurant (reservations recommended).

Ponce City Market

Ponce City Market

675 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30308

Ponce is one of the prides of ATL. It has shops! Dining! Fancy trinkets! Williams Sonoma! What more could you want? We recommend walking, biking, or scootering there on the Beltline because parking can be tricky. Often, folks will walk there from Krog Street Market or Piedmont Park (also on our list). For food at Ponce, we love Botiwala for Indian Street Food and Bibi for Persian sandwiches.

Krog Street Market

Krog Street Market

99 Krog Street Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

Similar to Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market has indoor and outdoor shops and dining. While Ponce boasts equal shops and food, Krog is more focused on food and bevs. Walk between them on the Beltline to check out both!

Victory Sandwich Bar

Victory Sandwich Bar

913 Bernina Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

A great place for a quick bite and a beer, we recommend walking there from the Beltline and taking a stroll through Freedom Park.

Bread & Butterfly

Bread & Butterfly

290 Elizabeth Street Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

A gorgeous little French bistro, right off the Beltline that turns into an African restaurant at night. We love their quiche and croissants!

The Porter Beer Bar

The Porter Beer Bar

1156 Euclid Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

We love the Porter for its tavern-y vibes and great beer selection (including NA beers!) We used to come here on early dates to play games, drink mead, and pretend we were in a Live Action Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Wrecking Bar Brewpub

Wrecking Bar Brewpub

292 Moreland Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30307

An excellent brewpub with upscale pub food and a great beer selection. Guy Fieri approved, featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Little Bear

Little Bear

71 Georgia Avenue Southeast, Atlanta, GA 30312

Our favorite restaurant in ATL. Everything on the menu is incredible, but we especially love to get the XL Meat DuJour and try any of their creative cocktails (with great NA options).

The Little Tart Bakeshop

The Little Tart Bakeshop

437 Memorial Drive Southeast, Atlanta, GA 30312

We go here almost every time we drop our recycling off at the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (Allie's favorite place). We love their Kouign-amann pastries (if you can get them in time), breakfast sandwiches, pistachio + cardamom cake, and tahini + benne seed cookies.

Alon's Bakery & Market

Alon's Bakery & Market

1394 North Highland Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30306

One of our favorite bakeries in ATL, also right by our place! We love the breakfast sandwiches, the pistachio croissants, and the almond cookies. If you're in the area Saturday morning, you can also pop by the Morningside Farmer's Market from 8am-11am.

The General Muir

The General Muir

1540 Avenue Place, Atlanta, GA 30329

The General Muir is a great place for bagels, brunch, or dinner! Excellent burgers, and solid pastrami if that's your thing.

Varuni Napoli

Varuni Napoli

1540 Monroe Drive Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30324

Our favorite pizza in town! There are multiple locations (including one in Krog Street Market, also on our list), but this one's right by our place and right off of Piedmont Park.

Atlanta Contemporary

Atlanta Contemporary

535 Means Street Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30318

Right near Georgia Tech's campus, ATL Contemporary is a great place to experience Atlanta's fantastic contemporary arts scene.

Center For Puppetry Arts

Center For Puppetry Arts

1404 Spring Street Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30309

We love Puppets! We went here on an early date and did the scavenger hunt for children while marveling at the Jim Henson exhibit.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Sweetwater Creek State Park

1750 Mount Vernon Road, Lithia Springs, GA 30122

A great place for an easy to moderate hike. It's a bit far outside of town, so you'll have to drive to get here, and parking is $5, so bring cash if you can. Fun fact, they filmed part of the Hunger Games here!
