Allie had been a nurse at TJUH for almost 3 years, when in walks Mario— a bright eyed and eager first year medical resident. Mario had the luck of landing his very first rotation on the medical oncology unit… the very place that Allie worked. Now, she’d had two previous years of welcoming in a new class of resident doctors at this point— July in a teaching hospital can be a stressful time! But Mario provided some calm and competent energy. He cared about the patients, and really listened to the nurses— which let me tell ya, that’s important! He was confident, attentive and intelligent… and Allie could tell almost instantly that he was going to be a great doctor. Over the next 4 months they would pass each other in the hallways… throwing cheeky comments and subtle flirtation each others way— very nonchalant, very professional. It wasn’t until the beginning of November; when, very serendipitously, they would finally bump into each other outside of the hospital. And not before long; their love was in full bloom.
