Over the summer of 2020, Jeremiah and I were in a long distance relationship; he was in San Diego, while I was living at home in Fairfield. Through this period, Jeremiah sent me a package with all my favorite snacks and candies, as well as a bundle of letters that he had hand written. Each of the letters I was only to open at a specific time. For example, some of the letters were to open when I was sad, missing him, discouraged, sick, etc. There were also three letters with cities on them; San Fran, San Diego, and Newport Beach (which I could only open when we were in those cities together). Months later, November rolls around and Jeremiah and I were in Fairfield together for Thanksgiving week. My parents told me we were going to take a small hike and have a picnic near the Marin Headlands for my “moms birthday.” Obviously I didn’t think anything of it. Jeremiah also told me to bring my San Francisco letter (the one he had written months before) since we would be in the area. Again, didn’t think anything of it. Day of the hike, Jeremiah and I are strolling along when we get to a beautiful beach, right under the Golden Gate overlooking all of San Fran. We continued walking on the beach until we reached a spot with rocks in the shape of a heart with the letters “J + A” in the middle, and rose petals everywhere. “I think you should read your letter” Jeremiah told me. I opened the San Fran letter and the first words were “this is the city where I ask you to marry me.” He got down onto one knee and asked me to marry him! The rest is history :)
