Allen and Allie met in Tempe, AZ where they were both attending Arizona State University. Allen was roommates with a classmate of Allie's. Allie was wearing a strange piece of clothing that Allen had never seen before, something called a "romper". Allen and Allie would cross paths over the course of the next two years ever so often, but it wasn't until one fateful Strong Beer Festival, on Allen's 26th birthday when they found there was something very special between them. The two became inseparable during Allie's final semester at ASU. Allie had accepted a job in Boston after graduation, and the two tried to avoid any discussion of Allie's eminent cross-country move. It wasn't until 2 nights before Allie's departure from Arizona, over beers at their favorite bar on Mill Ave in Tempe (Handlebar!) when Allen told Allie that he planned to visit Boston and was willing to move to continue their relationship after finishing up school! In that moment, Allen's faith in their bond proved that they were in love. After over a year of dating from over 2,600 miles away, with strategically planned cross-country visits (Tempe in the Winter NEVER Boston), Allen kept his word and moved to Fenway, across the street from Allie's apartment!
It was a hot, muggy, extra sticky Thursday in June. We were both off of work the following day, and Allen suggested that we go for drinks and dinner after work, downtown. Allie found it suspicious when Allen was out of work early... she also found it suspicious that he was nearly finished drinking a G&T at the TIKI bar across the street from Allie's work when she had finished up for the day. We had planned to go to the North End to get our pasta on, and walking by the Custom House, Allen suggested an adventure: sneaking up to the top of the Custom House! Neither of us had ever been in the distinguished clock tower, but Allen sneakily seemed to know his way around the building. With a little bit of sleight of hand magic working the elevator, we made it to the observation deck at the top of the tower. There was no one else at the top overlooking the city. Allie couldn't miss the opportunity to grab a quick snap/instagram story of their city from a new perspective. Obliviously overlooking Rhowe's Wharf, the iconic anaerobic digesters on Deer Island, and all of the Harbor Islands, Allie was shocked when she turned around to see Allen on one knee. Allen surprised Allie with a room at the Custom House and champagne, followed by an indulgent dinner in the North End with plenty of red wine, pasta, and cheese. We both agree that that was the best Thursday of our lives!
Love your pals, Allie & Allen PS: We are still working on this website...stay tuned and check back later!
