Allie and Rob, through the help of an app called JSwipe, began texting each other back and forth in the summer of July 2015, Rob's final summer living at the Jersey Shore. Although Rob almost blew it by not texting Allie back for several days at one point, Allie reluctantly gave him a chance to meet in person. They ended up meeting at Fireside Bar and Grill in Marlboro, New Jersey and spent the first 2 hours of their meal not opening up a menu at all, instead just talking. Rob went home that day to tell his roommates in Belmar that he felt like he just met someone special.

After their first meeting, Allie and Rob had their first official date at Mcloone's Pier House in Long Branch, New Jersey where Allie discovered the best sushi she ever had and the two went for a long walk on the beach. Rob made a good enough impression for Allie to come visit Belmar several times that summer before the couple became official on August 9th, 2015.

In the years that they were dating, Allie and Rob shared in countless major life experiences together that helped shaped their love for each other. There were the Hoboken years, in which Allie would come up to visit and the two would spend many fun nights out on the town. At the same time, Rob would visit Allie often at school until she graduated in 2016. The couple took trips to Mexico, Las Vegas (twice), Niagara Falls, Orlando, The Caribbean, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, and Boston. They bought a house in New Brunswick and moved in together in 2017, and a year later Louie was brought home. Before getting engaged, Allie and Rob went through quite the journey, and through it all their love for each other only grew.

Rob proposed to Allie February 15th, 2019 at the site of their first official date, Mcloone's Pier House in Long Branch, New Jersey. Rob's initial plan was to find a random person on the boardwalk to take a picture, and then drop to a knee and surprise Allie, but not a single individual strolled the boardwalk that evening, so Rob was forced to adapt. During their meal in Mcloone's, Rob got up from the table, took Allie by the hand, ushered her to the middle to the room and got down on a knee. The few people in the restaurant that night were taken completely by surprise, and several tried to grab photos while it was happening. Although it didn't go according to plan, Rob wouldn't take anything back because the smile on Allie's face was priceless.
