Jake went to the river the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to be with family and go riding in the desert. He told me he would be back early Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday and that he made dinner reservations in Laguna Beach. The restaurant was very romantic and had dim lighting with a fire place nearby. Dinner was not only romantic but delicious too. After dessert, Jake suggested we walk on the beach. We headed down towards the water cutting through a hotel lobby. I was nervous we were going to get in trouble for wandering through the hotel since we weren't guests. As we walked down several flights of stairs we could hear the ocean getting louder and louder. At the end of the stairs it was clear there was no beach access in sight. Jake pulled out a hotel key and opened the door to an ocean-front room that he had already set up with candles and balloons everywhere. At that point I still thought this was all part of my birthday celebration. Once we settled into the room he dropped to one knee and proposed. I ugly cried for at least 15 minutes and couldn't stop staring at my beautiful ring hoping that it was not a dream. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
