How We Met...That one time Ariel wouldn't talk to me

"koi no yokan. It doesn’t mean love at first sight. It’s closer to love at second sight. It’s the feeling when you meet someone that you’re going to fall in love with them. Maybe you don’t love them right away, but it’s inevitable that you will.” Looking back this phrase that contains 3 words and 4 syllables perfectly sums up our relationship. We were inevitable...love sprung from friendship often is. The minute I saw Ariel I thought he was cute, the fact that he was sitting with one of my friends during lunch only gave me the excuse I needed to talk to him. However even though I tried repeatedly to engage him in conversation Ariel being what I can now identify as him being himself wouldn't budge. My friends break eventually ended and he left..so now it was just me and Ariel. I didn't think it was possible but he talked to me even less then before. He assumed that I wouldn't want to speak to him anymore because our mutual friend was gone (WRONG... I thought he was cute that's a conversation worth having right there). I forced the conversation which looking back makes me cringe because it was my first time ever doing something like that but looking forward makes me smile because it helped me get the guy. By the time we left the break room we were making eyes at each other. One step closer to becoming a we...

First date: When he doesn't get the hint...

I was into him...and it was painfully obvious. Unfortunately it was obvious to everyone but Ariel. I knew he liked me because he use to stop to talk to me for no reason and he would walk by me for no reason, most times out of his way. I kept thinking he would ask me out but he never did! I bet you're thinking why didn't you throw out hints...I DID. To this day I wonder if he just never saw the hints or liked watching me squirm. Eventually I decided OK I'm just going to ask him out my only problem was that I had never done that before and was scared shitless to try. I tried and failed on multiple occasions; we would start talking I would ask him if he played pool and he would say yes and then I would say OK and walk away. This happened MULTIPLE times with the same dialogue it was getting to be a bit much. Eventually I woman'd up and spit out. You can all guess that he said yes! But there was a problem 1. I forgot to give him my number so we could actually coordinate (he came and found me later to ask for it Thank God because it may have taken me another 3 days the way I was going) 2. I had asked him about pool so many times he thought it was a group activity and not a date and checked with me to make sure. Needless to say it was a date but sometimes when I thank back to that conversation I cringe and then crack up!

We are Otters...

Ultimately we're marrying our best friends and no matter how many years have gone by we always fall back on that..

For all the days along the way
