Sam and I lived across the hall from each other in our apartment building my junior year at Cal Poly. I just knew him as the cute guy with the blue eyes who always held the door for me and my roommates. After bumping into each other a few times, we connected the dots that we both went to Cal Poly. One day Sam asked me for my number, and we first started getting to know each other.

After a few group hikes, Sam started coming over to use my printer, and my roommate started to tease me that “nobody needs to use a printer for that long." We started studying together and talking on the phone that summer, and became best friends over those months. Eventually Sam built up the courage to ask me on a date. We went stargazing and talked about anything and everything. When we saw a shooting star and made the same wish, I think we both knew then that something great was beginning.

Flash forward to August 2021 - Sam told me to dress up for a dinner date, but detoured and took me up to our favorite hiking spot on Russian Ridge to watch the sunset. When he went to take a selfie of us I noticed something sparkling in the corner of the photo - IT WAS A RING! I turned around and he was on one knee. It was the most amazing surprise and the easiest yes I have ever said. We’re so excited to get married and celebrate with you!
