Our love story kicked off on Upward, a Christian dating app, where Allen bravely slid into my DMs first. What started as easy-breezy chatting turned into full-on texting marathons in no time. Just three days later, we were like, “Okay, let’s do this!” and planned our first meet-up. Allen, being the sweetest gentleman, showed up with hot chocolate, flowers, and a bag of KFC French fries — because I’d casually mentioned how obsessed I am with them. Instant points! We headed to a scenic lookout, talked for hours like we’d known each other forever, and then… we danced in the headlights of his pickup truck like total goofballs under the stars. By the end of that night, we both just knew — this was something special. The shy guy with the fries had completely won me over, and we’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since. From awkward-first-message jitters to dancing like no one was watching (because no one was), God really showed off with this one. We can’t wait to keep the adventures — and the fries — coming for the rest of our lives!
One of our favorite chapters happened on a beautiful drive to Dent Bridge. Allen suggested we go take some pictures, and I was totally clueless — just happy to be spending another adventure with my favorite person. As we were snapping photos on the bridge, he turned to me with that sweet, slightly shy smile and asked, “Is there anything you would change about me?” Without missing a beat, I laughed and replied, “I’d be Mrs. Taylor.” That’s when he looked at me and said the most heartfelt words: “Sydney, you’re the most wonderful woman I’ve ever met. You’re the love of my life. Will you be my wife?” Tears filled my eyes instantly. I said “Yes!” with the biggest smile and the happiest heart. It was simple, thoughtful, and perfectly us. From our first message on Upward to dancing in the headlights to this moment on Dent Bridge, God has been writing the sweetest story for us. I can’t wait to be Mrs. Taylor and keep saying yes to a lifetime of adventures with Allen.
