We met at Allen's first apartment during our first year at Longwood University, where he lived with one of Katherine's friends. During our second year, we moved into an apartment with a couple friends, and grew closer by the day. We had the same music taste, we liked the same tv shows, we had the same humor; everything just worked. After that, everything just fell into place....
When we first started our journey together, we used to walk down the street and pass by a manhole cover. We always saw a little colored pebble in the notches. We started picking them up, and when we would go back the next day, there would be a new pebble. One day, we decided to leave two in the manhole cover, and the next day, every notch was filled with a different colored bead. Flash forward, Allen mentioned that he found a colored pebble at school, and Kat didn't think much of it, but we decided to go to the manhole cover later that week. So a couple days later, we went down to the street with the manhole cover, and Allen knelt down next to the cover and asked Kat which notch the pebble should go in. So after Kat picked a spot, Allen placed the pebble in the notch and said, "So, I like you a lot...will you marry me?" And with that Allen pulled out the ring and of course, Kat said yes!
