At the time, I was working at Ki Cuylers in Harrisville to pay for my college classes. While working lunch one day, Roger walked in with Al; I’d never met him before but I had an idea of who he was. I’ve known Roger since I was young because our parents were friends and they used to hangout, so I talked with Roger a little that day but Al was quiet, which didn’t fit what I had heard about him at all. The next time he came in while I was working, I got to see the Al that we all know and love. It was crazy busy and loud in there that night but they, obnoxiously, made sure I knew they were there, the whole time they were there; then he insisted on giving me a hug before he left and asking me to meet him down the road at Shotmaker’s when I got out of work. That’s where it all began. 💕
It was Valentine's Day so we had plans to go to dinner after work. My hours at the time were unpredictable so he had asked me to text him when I was getting close to home so he could get ready “for dinner”. I walked in the house to a trail of words written in sticky notes on the floor. “Will”, “You”, “Be”, “My” was spaced out along the dining room, living room, down the hall, and on the mirror at the end of the hall. When I got to the end of the hall, I expected to turn into our room and see “Valentine”somewhere. I thought he was trying to be cute actually asking me to be his Valentine; I mean it’s been 12 years. I turned into the bedroom to see “Wife?” on the floor and Al kneeling with a ring in his hand. He said something but I was in so much shock, I didn’t hear it as I tackled him. Turns out he said, “I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind marrying me too much.” Obviously. I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone else. 💕
