One good thing came out of COVID - us! COVID caused the rescheduling and change of plans for both of Laura and Taylor's separate trips to Cozumel to occur the same week in November of 2021. On Laura's last night in Cozumel, her and her friend Carolyn decided to go to their favorite bar in downtown, The Thirsty Cougar, for a giant margarita. Taylor and Aaron were walking downtown on their first night in Cozumel, and noticed two pretty girls exiting their cab - Taylor caught eyes with Laura as he walked by. As Laura was walking to The Thirsty Cougar she turned around to see if Taylor was still looking her way, he had not taken his eyes off her. "They will be back," she said to Carolyn, and she was right. After a short time as to not make it too obvious (it was), Taylor walked into The Thirsty Cougar and found a seat at the bar right next to Laura. After talking all night, Taylor asked for Laura's number to continue talking to her - she gave it to him but thought why would this man from New Mexico want to talk to me in Rhode Island. Taylor was persistent and knew what he wanted, so a short month later traveled to Rhode Island to hang out with the girl he met in Cozumel - and their friendship and relationship began, long distance at first. Taylor and Laura's work schedule allowed them to travel to each other frequently, and after two years they decided it was time to stop the long distance and begin their next adventure. They both picked up their lives and moved to North Carolina to start their lives together. Since moving they adopted two cats, Rosemary and Colby Jack and on October 11, 2024 Taylor decided he could not live without Laura and proposed in Newport, RI on the cliff walk surrounded by friends and family. Obviously, she said "YES!"
