Our Story

From Anatomy to “Marry Me”

It all started in 2009 at Middle Tennessee State University, where Jarius and Jasmine found themselves in the same Anatomy class. The connection was there, but they didn’t quite know it yet. One night, they decided to have a “Netflix and chill” evening (the innocent kind, of course), but afterward, Jarius didn’t pursue anything further. Jasmine, who was always looking for something real, wasn’t exactly impressed. “He knew I was serious about relationships, and he wasn’t there yet,” she says. And so, life went on. The years passed. College ended, Jasmine had a few relationships, and Jarius—well, he was still doing his thing. But they stayed in touch, exchanging the occasional like or comment on Facebook. They were connected on social media, but that was about it. Then, 13 years later, everything changed. Jasmine posted about some personal challenges she was facing, and Jarius, in a surprising but incredibly sweet move, sent her a message full of encouragement, positivity, and a reminder of her strength. That simple message re-ignited their connection. Before long, they were messaging each other back and forth, catching up on life like no time had passed. And then, in true Jarius style, he asked Jasmine out. What happened next? Instant chemistry. They picked up right where they left off (minus the whole “maybe he’s not serious about relationships” thing). Nearly two years later, Jarius was on one knee, asking Jasmine to be his forever on November 29th, 2024. In a proposal straight out of a rom-com, Jarius had a saxophonist serenading Jasmine with “This Is Why I Love You” as she walked down a path lined with rose petals. Guests handed her roses as she walked, each step drawing her closer to a heart-shaped rose arrangement, where glowing letters spelled out “Marry Me.” How could she possibly say no? Jarius and Jasmine’s story is proof that timing really is everything. 13 years, a few Facebook messages, and an abundance of rose petals later, they’ve finally found their way to this moment. Here’s to Jarius and Jasmine—two people who met in Anatomy class, took the long road to each other, and are now ready to write their own happily-ever-after. Sometimes, the best things really do take time, and love? Well, it has a funny way of working out exactly when it’s meant to.
