One cold, cloudy day in January, our two lovebirds met at a butterfly pavilion. In God’s dramatic irony, they both had secretly intended the date as practice, in anticipation of the day they would really meet their future spouse. They didn’t know that they were, in fact, beginning a life together. The first lovebird was a woman named Elizabeth, and the other was a man named Alexander, known as Alex. After they had established that Liz knew very little about butterflies -- and will indeed tell “butter-lies” when she is nervous -- and Alex promised not to stalk her if she revealed her workplace, they proceeded to discuss Carl Jung, quantum mechanics, philosophy, and Christianity over old fashions at a local speak-easy. They ended their first date at an Ace Hardware store. Neither could’ve anticipated the year-long adventure that was to follow: serving coffee, hiking the tallest mountains, roadtrips, symphonies and plays, worshiping God together, reading books together, and falling deeply in love with the person God had reserved for each of them. Now, as they prepare to take the next step in their journey, they cordially invite you to attend them as they swear oaths before God and are joined in holy matrimony.
