Aliya's Maid of Honor
In 2013, Aliya and Christa were brand new psychology grad students, and when Christa made a thoughtful feminist critique in class which was dismissed by the sexist professor, it garnered the attention of Aliya and was the start of a feminist BFF match made in heaven. Christa is brilliant, compassionate, a little absurd, and the definition of a true sister-friend who has been a gift in the life of Aliya, Liz, their family and friends, and everyone else who is lucky enough to know her.
Liz's Maid of Honor
Emily is Liz's big sister and very best friend. They've been by each other's sides for their whole lives and Liz can't imagine having anyone else as her right hand lady. Emily has been so supportive of everything Liz has ever done and has always been her biggest cheerleader, even when Liz decided it was a good idea to steal a cat from a Brooklyn bodega. She welcomed Aliya into the family with open and loving arms and watching the two of them grow close has brought so Liz so much joy.
Bridesmaid
Liz and Chelsea met when they were randomly paired as roommates their freshman year of college and have been inseparable best friends ever since. They've gone on countless adventures together including exploring Europe and drinking their way through Upper East Side of Manhattan. Chelsea has become a pivotal member of Liz’s family and is included in pretty much every family event which Liz pretends to be annoyed by, but it secretly makes her heart burst with love.
Bridesmaid
Aliya and Tara met on the dance floor of a Baltimore queer party, and did a little jig into each other's hearts. Many cups of coffee, cat snuggles, witchy tarot readings, and "slicing" sessions later, these two have a deep friendship that surpasses years, relationships, and timezones.
Bridesmaid
The one. The only. The Vullo. Liz and Arielle met and fell in love on the second day of college and by the end of that week, they were co-hosting an Italian dinner on the (very dirty) floor of their dorm hallway. As Liz mentioned in her Maid of Honor speech at Arielle’s wedding, they have shared 5 New York City apartments, an epic prank war wherein Arielle stole Liz’s bed, way too many viewings of Into The Woods and a lifetime’s worth of beautiful memories. They are each other’s soul mates.
Bridesmaid
It was 2009 and Aliya was a junior at U of Maryland and president of the pro-choice student org, and Andrea was a new freshman excited to link up with the activist scene. In the most stereotypical feminist meeting story of all time, the magic of the Vagina Monologues brought these two together. Over 12 years later, they are still constantly texting, learning and growing from one another, sharing vegan dessert recipes, and loudly cackling in the process.
Bridesmaid
Cat is Liz's amazing, loving, kind and thoughtful little sister whom she loves so dearly. Together, Liz and Cat like to take trips to Starbucks, watch Dance Moms, get their nails done and catch up on all the hot gossip. No one can make Liz laugh quite like Cat can.
Bridesmaid
A feminist reading group (are you sensing a theme in these meeting stories yet?) introduced Aliya, new Baltimore transplant, to Molly, the sweetest and most passionate public health advocate. Molly will literally put a roof over your head, a meal in your belly, and a shirt on your back (and has done all of the above for Aliya and others). Aliya and Liz are so thrilled to be part of the Greenberg-Katz extended family, and to have Charlie as part of the wedding party.
Bridesmaid
Katherine is Liz’s cousin, but might as well be her sister. The two of them have been close their whole lives and Liz can’t imagine her life without Katherine’s witty humor, never ending love or encyclopedic knowledge late 90’s dance hits and every family member’s birthday. Fav memories include: getting weird in basements, Thanksgiving cuddle puddles, taking over a bar to blast Mariah Carey, long drives blasting Taylor Swift and countless bottles of rose.
Bridesmaid
Sam and Aliya were united not only by genetics, but by a love of learning, social justice, and their grandma Gloria (may her memory be a blessing). Aliya is grateful to have been able to watch Sam grow up into a smart, driven, thoughtful, and compassionate young woman. Sam will also traveling all the way from Australia for this special day!
Flower Girl
Ella is Liz and Aliya's sweet and funny niece whom they both absolutely adore. Ella loves reading us books, playing hide and seek with us, and drawing the most amazing pictures. We are beyond honored that Ella cleared her busy schedule for our special day.
Ring Bearer
Aliya and Liz are thrilled to have Mr. Charlie Greenberg Katz serve as their ring bearer. He is the product of the two kindest and loveliest people in Baltimore. It has been an honor to watch him grow up and be part of his extended network of aunties!
