Let’s start with the fateful night in 2018 when Tarran and Alissa first met. Tarran was feeling uneasy no doubt, having crossed the East River to party at one of Manhattan’s most elite bars, The Red Lion. Alissa remembers talking to their mutual friend John Foster and seeing Tarran’s head pop around him a few times before asking, “who’s your creepy friend?”. Tarran remembers Alissa looking at him with a twinkle in her eye, and thinking, “why isn’t this girl hanging out with me??”. One thing led to another, and all of the sudden, they were in a limo with 20+ friends heading to karaoke in the East Village. It was there that they first learned of their shared love of music, singing every word to smash hits such as Lil Wanye’s “A Milli” and a few Nickelback songs nobody wanted picked. The romance was alive. Now you’re probably thinking – how could they stay apart after a performance like that? It wasn’t until over a year later that Tarran and Alissa reconnected at New York’s Pier A bar. Alissa’s beauty was only matched by the 1972 Steiger Craft docked halfway up the pier, and Tarran couldn’t help thinking that this could be it.

As the months passed in the fall of 2019, Alissa and Tarran enjoyed everything being young in New York City had to offer. They frequented dirty bars in Williamsburg and the East Village, Alissa trying to impress Tarran by wearing a different jacket each time. Tarran complained often and loudly about Manhattan, claiming Brooklyn far superior, to which Alissa could only smile and nod – this guy is from Massachusetts, what does he know?
Coming Home
Anywhere & Everywhere
2020 was shaping up to be an epic year. They were 25 and 24, in love, with their whole lives ahead of them. No one could have predicted that their world was about to turn upside down. In a typically dramatic fashion, Alissa left New York in April 2020 for the safety of New Jersey. The two then spent a month apart, which felt like a lifetime. As luck would have it, Tarran wasn’t about to let his tradition of spending MDW on Martha’s Vineyard be interrupted. They reconnected on the island, and then spent the next year somewhere in between 6 feet and ~200 miles apart.
Beyond
Boston
It wasn’t until Tarran got a new job in Boston that the two were faced with a decision. What’s next? Ultimately, after countless facetimes and Amtraks, Alissa decided that perhaps she preferred freshly caught tuna to a New York slice. Now the two are 29, in love, and in Boston with their whole lives ahead of them. They’re not sure what’s coming next, but know that even when the world turns upside down, they will always have each other.
