Though the invites said the dress code is "black tie optional", there's still some confusion so we wanted to clarify! In our case, we'd love all men to wear a suit and traditional ties - no jeans, but you can also leave the tuxedos and bow ties at home. For reference, Shafique and the groomsmen will be wearing a suits with traditional ties. Women can wear cocktail style dresses or gowns. Fancy jumpsuits are good as well, but please no rompers, sun dresses, or mini skirts.
Fun dressy! We're hosting the welcome event for family and out-of-towners in a hotel restaurant that is more meaningful than it is formal. Alissa will be in a cute dress and Shafique will most likely be in slacks and a button down.
There sure is! Pull into the Sky Rink/Lighthouse parking lot at Pier 61 and drive all the way to the back where the Lighthouse entrance is. Park in an available spot and when you come inside, request a voucher at the coatcheck. You will use this at the machine when you leave so don't lose it! If you don't get one, you'll have to pay for your parking spot.
Newark is actually the closest and most convenient airpot to Chelsea by both car and train. But you can't go to wrong with LaGuardia or JFK either. Here are the approximate times when not traveling during rush hour: Newark: 30-45 min by car and ~1 hr via public transportation (by AirTrain and NJTransit) LaGuardia: 45 min to an hour by car and public transportation (by bus and subway) JFK: 1hr-1hr and 15 by both car and public transportation (by AirTrain and LIRR or subway)
We love your kids (Alissa especially does) but they are not invited to either event.
