Our story began during New Years of 2017. Alissa, having known the grooms sister Quincy since middle school, was introduced to Marshal at a concert where an initial spark occurred, but no flame was kindled. It would take until July of 2017 when Alissa reached out to Marshal asking if they could get Poke together. What was supposed to be a one-time, low-stakes and friendly hangout with each other, quickly turned into a summer of love. Unfortunately, summer doesn’t last forever, and Alissa was gearing up to attend her sophomore year at The University of Arizona, while Marshal would be staying back in San Diego for his degree at Cal State San Marcos. Not wanting to be content with this just being a summer romance, Marshal proposed they do long-distance and see if they could turn a summer fling into a lifetime of love. What followed was three years of daily FaceTime calls, alternating road trips and flights to visit each other, love letters, and surprise gifts through the mail. Three years flew by in a flash, and having made Long-Distance work, they were ready to take it to the next step. What followed was six years of countless adventures: moving in together, traveling the country, the world, attending concerts and festivals, new hobbies, and eventually, getting engaged. The day we got engaged was a magical day filled with love where it all culminated at Windansea Beach in La Jolla where Alissa (thankfully) said yes to Marshal’s proposal. With one last surprise, Marshal had gathered together Alissa’s closest friends and family to celebrate the engagement. Now, just under two years later (we both wanted a long engagement!), we are excited for you be here with us now to celebrate our wedding day! We hope you all can join us and be with us on this special day. We are looking forward to seeing you and are so excited to spend time with you all!
