Alissa and Josh met through the most classic Jewish story... at the JCC, of course! But it was truly fate, באַשערט, if you will, that brought them together. More than 65 years earlier Josh’s grandmother, Eileen, and Alissa’s great uncle, Howard, dated for a brief period before fate decided that it was not the time for these two families to be joined. And good thing. Now the universe has brought these two families together at last with the love of Alissa and Josh. Which is a lot more romantic than saying “we met at work.”
There was one thing made clear: Alissa would not spend Thanksgiving with Josh unless there was a ring on her finger. Also, as a traditionalist, the one thing Alissa wanted was for Josh to ask her dad, Craig, for his permission to marry her. Josh took this to heart and not only asked him, but made sure Alissa was there to witness this right before the proposal. There was a wonderfully planned out day, starting with a flight to Miami and followed by a beautiful lunch at the Biltmore hotel where Josh would propose in the famous garden area followed by The Rolling Stones concert the following night. However, with the panic from hurricane Dorian rising, The Rolling Stones concert was moved to the night before, causing all plans to be switched. Josh decided he would rather there be a meaningful moment with Donna and Craig than not and so the proposal ended up taking place at the concert in front of the entire club section of people. Just so that Alissa would spend Thanksgiving with him.
