It started four years ago at Longhorn... Alissa would come in every morning listening to music while singing at the top of her lungs, while Greg was in the back, bothered and annoyed. Greg would notice that Alissa made a cup of coffee every morning, so whenever she would come into work, he would make a cup just for her. This led to casual conversations over a cup of coffee every morning. Greg started bringing in different flavored creamers, which always sparked new conversations. They would talk about music, the Top 5 best Disney movies of all time, sports, and lots of Star Wars discussions. Time had passed, and Alissa would still go to work, singing at the top of her lungs, secretly waiting on her cup of coffee to be made. One day Greg suggested the two of them should go out for music trivia, and the rest was history. Although they didn’t win music trivia, they won each other as partners for life.
The love of coffee took them full circle in their proposal moment. It all started days prior when Greg collaborated with family and friends to make December 11th a day they would never forget. Alissa got her nails done with her best friend Yasmine (who decorated the room he proposed in). She was having a challenging work week, and he made sure friends were extra supportive and encouraging but also discrete enough not to give away the surprise. When the day came, Alissa was so excited to “see the Christmas lights,” but Greg insisted on stopping at a new local coffee shop, Nostalgia Hollow (Kannapolis, NC). As they made their inside, Greg went straight to the back of the shop to scope out his proposal spot. Unaware of his agenda, Alissa ordered her coffee and made small talk with the owner. As time passed, Alissa started to become suspicious. There was no one in the coffee shop besides Greg, Alissa, and the owner. There was no overhead music playing, and the owner took exceptionally long to make her coffee. After a while, Greg told Alissa that he wanted to show her the coolest part of the coffee shop. As they make their way to the back of the shop. It was at that moment Alissa started to put all the puzzle pieces of the week together. There was suddenly music playing in the background, and there were rose petals scattered through the entrance of the room. Alissa made her way in and saw the sign…."Marry Me.” After many tears from both of them, she said YES! Shortly after leaving, Alissa immediately called her family, but little did she know they were waiting for her at her mom’s house because Greg had coordinated a celebration with her family and his family at his mom's house. He made sure family members from out of town joined in via Zoom to help celebrate their engagement. As the night progressed, Greg finally told Alissa that they were not going to see Christmas lights, and he had one last surprise. Greg took her to an underground bowling alley and surprised her with all of their friends (even friends from out of town) to celebrate with them!
