We met at Medical Center of the Rockies. Kade was working in his first year as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) on evening shift. I was doing my student rotations for MLS school, and a few months later would transition into a certified MLS working evening shift, as well. Over the course of the next couple months, we started to get to know each other. Kade offered to help me study for my MLS board exam and we talked about going snowboarding together. Eventually, we went on our first date on a hike at Horsetooth Reservoir. We ended up hitting it off and ended the date with smores at my parents house! Ever since then I can't seem to get rid of him. We've been together now for 5 years and have shared many laughs and adventures together. We are hoping for many more great years to come.
After 4 years of dating, I was suspicious of a proposal when Kade and I started planning a trip to Cabo, Mexico with our friends, Beth and Chris. Two days into the trip it hadn't happened, but we were having too much fun kayaking, UTVing, and chilling by the beach that a proposal wasn't on my mind. Day three we planned to take an Uber downtown in the afternoon. While getting ready, our friend, Chris, unexpectedly had stomach problems (or so I thought). Beth did a good job of playing along and told us she would take care of Chris at the hotel. Kade said that we should still go check out the downtown since our shuttle was supposedly already on its way. From the moment our shuttle driver picked us up, I began to wonder if we were really going to "the downtown" or not. After a couple wrong turns, we ended up at a private beach. I was only slightly concerned that we had been kidnapped. But right around the corner, we spotted a romantic tent lined with comfortable pillows and offered tasty cheeses, meats, and rich wine. Kade led me down to the water and told me to turn away from him and look out onto the ocean so he could snap a picture of me. When I turned back around, Kade was down on one knee. It was a romantic moment that I will never forget.
