It all started when Alison left a note on the windshield of Joey's car after school asking him to her senior prom. That note eventually led to Joey asking Alison out on April 2nd, 2012. What followed was Alison becoming a pioneer of her signature note-on-windshield delivery method for hand-written messages. Clearly undeterred by the possibility of coming on too strong at the start of a budding relationship, Alison proceeded to deliver her correspondence to Joey's car every single day from then on to the end of the school year. Alison's methods enjoyed unparalleled success as Joey very much looked forward to receiving these notes at the end of his day. The contents of these messages were always unexpected, and never disappointing. These messages covered a wide variety of topics, such as how her day was going, societal observations, doodles of giraffes and whatever inner monologues she had during class she happened to be in while writing. Alison's stream of consciousness is one of the many reasons that led to Joey falling in love with her.
They planned a weekend trip to Boston. As they were walking through the park, Joey was waiting for an opportunity to propose while Alison was looking for just the right tree to sit underneath. She thought she picked the right one, Joey started to get down on one knee. Alison, oblivious, walked away from him, found a better tree and immediately sat down. Now Joey had to awkwardly kneel down next to her and started going into his prepared speech, but then she saw the ring box and started crying. He replied, "I need you to actually say yes." So she said maybe.
