One of Florida's prestige museum and a few blocks away from the Poynter, it holds the largest collection of Salvador Dalí’s work outside of Europe with over 2,400 pieces. Next door is the beautiful Mahaffey Theater, renowned for its design with European box-style seating.
Located less than 5 minutes away from the Poynter, this 26-acre Pier District offers many different activities and areas to explore. Several museums and educational centers are contained within the district including the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center and Museum of Fine Arts St Petersburg. Enjoy a wide variety of culinary and retail options, or simply walk around the beautiful waterfront and beach areas. The St. Pete Pier is great for families, especially the Glazer Family Playground, Majeed Foundation Splash Pad, and numerous public art across the district.
Looking to enjoy the white-sand beaches of the Florida Gulf Coast? Secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city, St. Pete Beach blends the "Old Florida" feel with plenty of activities located 10 miles away from the Poynter. For beach trips before/after the wedding, some great options are Anna Maria Island or Clearwater Beach. Our personal favorite (and hometown) is Siesta Key Beach, known as one of the best beaches in America.
There are so many attractions and activities to do in the St. Pete area, we couldn't possibly fit them all. The St. Pete Saturday Morning Market is one of the largest farmers markets in the Southeast with over 170 vendors and less than a mile away from the Poynter. For botanical gardens, the Sunken Gardens and Florida Botanical Gardens are wonderful options. For nature lovers, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is 10 minutes away and offers 400 acres of Florida wildlife to explore. 20 minutes south, Fort De Soto Park blends beaches, Florida nature, and a 1900's-era fort into a massive 1,100 acre park that allows over-night camping. For additional aquariums other than the Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center, Clearwater Aquarium and the Florida Aquarium are within the vicinity.
