Despite my father telling me that I should live home and "save my money" I did otherwise and moved into an apartment in downtown Scranton. Moving out of my father's house meant that I didn't have my built in handyman anymore. My first love that I found during Covid was pickleball. The DPL (Dunmore Pickleball League) is where Stephen would come and play and where I got a good look at him- and definitely beat him in a few games! Though pickleball wasn't his forte, building things was! I mustered up the courage to ask him to put my headboard together in which he did so easily. "Social distancing" was alleviated and we got to know each other more, going on dates outside of Dunmore. I was able to get him to visit me in downtown Scranton, but driving 7 minutes down the highway was getting old for him. He bought a house in Dunmore in 2022 and we then became roommates. While living together, we shared laughs, late-night talks, and slowly realizing that what we had was something much deeper. On October 5th, we visited Lakeland Orchard, the spot where we first went out as a couple. The moment was already special, wrapped in nostalgia and the magic of our early days, but then he made it unforgettable by getting down on one knee and proposing in an apple picking row. It was the perfect full-circle moment—where it all started, and where we promised forever.
