Shrey and Alisha technically met for the first time at Columbia Business School, but in reality, they ran in completely different circles. While “Shutter-down Shrey” would be the last to leave every party, Alisha was notorious for being fast asleep by midnight. Because of these differences, by the time Covid shut down their last semester, they did not expect to ever even become good friends. Then, Alisha’s family went through a traumatic experience with illness. Among the many friends who reached out with love and support, Shrey went above and beyond to make himself available. Alisha isn't normally one to embrace phone calls and Facetimes with people she barely knows, but something made her say yes to Shrey. As things got better with her family, Shrey and Alisha continued to talk and strengthen their bond (the lack of parties to go to during quarantine really helped! :)) Finally, in August 2020, they met up for a pizza picnic at Domino Park in Brooklyn. During their conversation, Shrey asked Alisha what she would want in a partner. She replied with “Someone kind, thoughtful…the usual. But someone I have intellectual and emotional chemistry with.” To which Shrey playfully responded: “Oh! So someone like me!” We know, so cringe. After a year and a half of pandemic dating, which involved hours of Facetime, train rides from Brooklyn to Princeton and back, and many dates with Alisha’s ENTIRE family, Shrey popped the question at Princeton Junction station with chai, homemade biscotti, and both families present, creating the most special moment that symbolized their relationship so far. Several minutes of shocked speechlessness later (she actually forgot to say yes), on went the ring and the rest is history :) We are so excited to celebrate our story and the beginning of our lives together with all of you, and we are grateful for the very important roles you all have played in each of our lives.
