Our story began in 2019. I (Alise) was a Supervisor at Home Depot in Rock Hill, SC and John David had just started. I didn't pay JD much attention because he's always been loud and the one to command attention in the room lol. People naturally gravitate towards him. But, he would compliment me every single day, very persistent he was. Now anyone who knows JD, knows that he loves a good pet name and complimenting the ladies, "Baby girl," "good lookin," "beautiful," and the list goes on... let him tell it, he's a self proclaimed, "ladies man" if you will. So whenever he would call me his "brown sugar," I would ignore him. When I tell you, he was persistence personified, he asked me on a date every-single-day for about a month. And the answer for me was no, every-single-time. Until one day, he came into work, and as he walked past me he said, "good morning beautiful, when you gonna let me take you on a date?" and kept walking expecting his usual no in response. But as he walked past, I said "when do you want to take me?" Now I have no idea what possessed me to agree this day, but I was shocked and so was he lol. JD stopped in his tracks, turned around and said "wait what?" and we both kind of chuckled. I repeated the question and he asked where I wanted to go. I told him if he was taking me on a date, he needed to plan it out. The very next day, we went out to a local restaurant called Hickory Tavern where we spent hours playing musical bingo (we cheated horribly off of the table next to us and used Shazam), talked for hours and ate so good. It is by far, the best first date I'd ever had. We hugged, and went home. By the time I got home, he had texted me and asked me on a second date. The following day, we went to Top Golf. And the rest, is as they say, history. A few months after dating, we found out we were going to be parents to the best kiddo in the world (there's that non traditional factor again). We were both shocked, excited, happy, nervous and everything in between. But we committed in that moment to our forever together. After 3 years of dating, he finally asked me to marry him (which is a long and funny story in and of itself). It's a rapid fire love story, but one I wouldn't trade for the world. I'm lucky to have John David and we're even luckier to have our son, Greysen. So join us in completing our non traditional love story as we say 'I do' at the altar!
