How Our Souls Collided

In August of 2013, Alinka went to Arise Music Festival in Loveland, Colorado. On the first day, she entered the Starwater Coffee Bar and Lounge Tent. She saw a cute boy who looked familiar. She went right up to him and said, “Hi! I’m Alinka”. He responded, “Hi! I’m Miles, Have we met? You look familiar.” Although they hadn’t met before, there was a familiarity about each other, and they became immediate friends. For the next year they enjoyed going on sunrise hikes together and they became close friends with no intention of getting together. At Arise 2014, they danced together for the first time. That was the moment they felt a chemistry between them. A couple weeks after the festival ended, Alinka invited Miles to go on a road trip to Crestone with her. Her cat Rivi was living in Crestone that summer with her friend, and she was going to pick Rivi up. Miles said yes, and his friend Cara came along too. They went to Alinka’s favorite place, the Great Sand Dune National Park. With painted faces and wild hearts, they climbed and played on the Dunes. They were on either side of a massive sand dune crawling up it. They reached the top at the same time where they took hands and looked into each others eyes. “Now?” he asked her. “Yes” she replied. He rolled over the top of the dune and embraced her as they rolled down the dune laughing. That day they knew there was something more between them but they didn’t want to do anything to ruin their friendship. They decided they would very slowly start exploring what this deeper connection was, but their mantra was “Friends First”. It wasn’t long after that they both felt twitterpated, and totally in love with their best friend. They were excited but also very scared of messing up their friendship. He felt like once they decided to be in a relationship, there was no turning back, she was the one. She felt the same, and told her parents he was the “One”. Both of their souls knew this was it.
