Cory and Alina met the new old fashioned way on Hinge, while both living in Charlottesville, VA. Alina was wrapping up Med school and Cory was living with his parents in Batesville while flipping a house--look out HGTV! They made plans for a date early in their chat before either really knew how everything was about to shift. Both nearly canceled: Alina because the fire department showed up at her house for a gas leak, and Cory because he wasn’t entirely convinced the gas leak was real--it totally was! Fortunately, they both showed up. Alina was immediately smitten, and Cory caught up...eventually. They fell fast and their connection was put to the test just four months in when Alina moved to Richmond for residency followed by an acceptance to a dermatology program in New York City. Would Cory move to the city or would they go their separate ways? Luckily for Alina, Cory packed his bags and made the leap. They spent the next three years navigating city life together—crowded subway stations, overpriced groceries, and all.

Cory proposed on a Brooklyn sidewalk at sunset in November 2024. His sister Ramsey staged a photo-op to distract Alina, giving Cory the perfect moment to get down on one knee. She said yes. Now they’re back in Charlottesville enjoying fresh air, fewer car horns, and a lot more porch time!
