We're Getting married

It all began with two swipe rights (yes, it can work!). After some back and forth online, we then met under the swinging pendulum in the Tate Modern and connected over our shared interests in art, philosophical discussions and sci-fi films. What followed was an unplanned week of day-long dates getting to know each other and enjoying each other's company, before it had to be broken up with an undetermined and wistful goodbye for what we thought could be for good. In our own ways, we both tried to forget the other, but it was predictably futile. So, two months later Anton decided to take a spontaneous flight to LAX and took a train down to San Diego to go see about a girl. One night under the stars of an inflatable bubble hotel in Ensenada, he asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes. We kept in touch with an 8-hour time difference via Facebook messenger; until Alina found a way back to London for 6 more months. It was a summer of royal weddings, overstayed welcomes at flats, late nights, cheap beer, and London exploration. And then Alina left again. In the next 15 months, we were confined to seeing each other over jet-lagged weekends when our work would allow, gradually growing our relationship a sea away from each other. So now, in the midst of all the uncertainty surrounding a global pandemic, one thing became increasingly certain for us: we couldn’t bear to be apart any longer.
