It all started freshman year of high school, in homeroom; a place neither Alicia nor Kyller expected to meet their future spouse. An icebreaker about favorite foods sparked a conversation that would change everything. Kyller proudly shared that his favorite meal was a traditional Dominican dish: mangú with salami. Alicia, without hesitation, said she could never turn down a good taco. That simple exchange over favorite foods led to a friendship that quietly blossomed into something meaningful. Over the next four years, their friendship grew through countless debates about anything and everything, from who had the better taste in music to their dreams for the future. They challenged each other’s perspectives, cheered one another on, and found comfort in the ease of simply being together. A few weeks before senior year began, they reconnected over text to catch up on how their summers had gone. One thing led to another, and in true Kyller fashion, he casually mentioned that he was interested in pursuing something more with Alicia. She laughed it off at first, thinking he had to be joking until she saw the text: "Alicia, I'm going to make you mine one day. Just give me a chance." Still not taking him too seriously, Alicia replied with a playful, "Whatever, Kyller. We’ll see." Complete with a bunch of laughing emojis. As senior year unfolded, the idea of them being together lingered quietly in the back of Alicia’s mind. Though the thought made her a little nervous, Kyller’s persistence never wavered. But this time, Kyller did something he hadn’t done before, he asked Alicia, officially, to be his girlfriend. And this time, Alicia didn’t hesitate. She said yes wholeheartedly. Fast forward to Thanksgiving Day of 2024, surrounded by Alicia’s entire family — Kyller got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Without hesitation, Alicia said yes once again.
