As a surprise to no one - the two workaholics met at work. We were both working in South Philly about two miles apart, at two separate locations. Kiera's location had run out of receipt paper and Alicia's store had a case to spare. It was the first, but certainly, not the last time Kiera would call on Alicia for help and she would come running. Haha. Alicia drove right up to the storefront within moments and that was their first exchange. Four years later in 2016 we randomly added each other on Facebook. We agreed our jobs were stressful and from there we decided we earned a fun night out! Kiera planned an outing to hang out in the Gayborhood with some friends joining us. We drank so much alcohol, danced all night, ate so much food, and laughed so hard that night. We started spending weekends together, then weekdays after work, to eventually becoming inseparable.
It was December 25th of 2020 and we were sitting in our living room opening our final gifts. Alicia had kept a silver gift box tucked away for last. Kiera, confused at what could be better than the Ebene Damier she had just received, was in for a special surprise. Upon opening the box she was immediately enamored by the handcrafted porcelain ornament. On the front of the ornament was a photo of the couple that instantly melted Kiera's heart. When she looked up to thank Alicia she had been on the ground on one knee. Eagerly, she said "there's something else in the box." Kiera pulled a gorgeous ring from the box and Alicia simultaneously asked, "Baby, will you marry me?" The question was also later discovered on the back of the ornament. Astounded, Kiera replied "YES, but, OMG you really want to marry me?!!?!" Alicia replied, "Duh, I want to marry you. I LOVE YOU" And just like that we were engaged.
