Jesse’s version: Alicia and I met in undergrad during a public speaking class. I was horrible at public speaking, but she was very impressed with my presentation on Forest Fire Fighting and found me strong, rugged and charming. I asked her out on a study date, to which she never responded, then finally she gathered the courage to ask me out several months later. We share all the same interests, hobbies, likes, and dislikes, and we try to spend as close to 100% of our time together as possible. We were together through undergrad and applied to over 20 dental schools together, and thanks to some smooth wheeling and dealing, I managed to switch schools so we could be together. Alicia’s version: Jesse and I met in a public speaking class we took in undergrad. He was a really bad public speaker, and his presentation on Biochemistry was dorky and confusing, but I thought he seemed smart and nice. He was very nervous and awkward the few times he approached me, and eventually asked if I wanted to “study together sometime” because he was too shy to ask me out on a real date. After getting no response, I finally decided to ask him out on a date, and he suggested we go to a cool party which I later found out he had his brother arrange because he was a home-body. We applied to over 20 dental schools together, and didn’t get accepted to the same programs. But the dean of admissions, Dr. Norton was kind enough to spend a considerable amount of time and energy to make a spot for Jesse.

Jesse's version: I proposed to Alicia during a two week vacation to British Columbia where we ate at every restaurant she saw in Vancouver and spent several days hiking around the beautiful green mountains and crystal clear lakes. Alicia's Version: Jesse proposed to me on my birthday in a beautiful Japanese garden in Vancouver, British Columbia. He chose my birthday so that he “will never forget our anniversary”. We both fell in love with Vancouver, and all the restaurants where Jesse could order “breakfast food” for every meal. We spent several days hiking in the woods, including a trip where Jesse had some trouble converting kilometers to miles, leading us on a 14 mile hike with only 2 candy bars to eat.
