Starting in 2025, non-European Union (EU) tourists planning to visit Europe’s Schengen Zone will need to apply for the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). The ETIAS is a travel authorization system designed for visitors who don’t need a visa to enter European countries in the Schengen Area. This includes popular destinations like France, Italy, Spain, and Germany. While the ETIAS isn’t a visa, it does require non-EU tourists to get pre-approval before their trip. Much like the United States’ ESTA system, the ETIAS is meant to track and monitor travelers to improve border security and reduce risks. By mid-2025, if you’re from a visa-exempt country (I.e. the US), you’ll need to complete the ETIAS application before heading to Europe. Whether you’re going for a vacation, a business trip, or visiting family, this will be a critical step in your travel planning. Currently, it has not been implemented. Naples or Rome International AirportsNaples or Rome International Airports

Naples is the closest international airport to Ravello. From Naples, you can hire a private car (1 hour drive) or take the train to Salerno (or Vietre Sul Mare-Amalfi) (43 min). From Rome, take the fast train to Salerno (1.5-2 hr train ride), then hire car to Ravello. **Flying into Naples vs. Rome** There will likely be a layover where you could potentially miss your connecting flight.
