Alicia was working for the YMCA in her hometown, babysitting kids while their parents worked out. Her department had a wall of floor to ceiling windows and was described as a fish tank because everyone could/would watch you. Jordan was working for Subway and just so happened to be transferred to the one located inside the YMCA, right across from Alicia’s department. One day a mom came in and said “Hey girls, one of the Subway workers keeps staring in here. I think he has a crush on one of you.” Alicia looked over and she and Jordan made eye contact. Awkward, but she didn’t think he was her type so she paid no attention to it. Fast forward to a couple months later. Alicia just got out of work and was getting ready to work out. She went over to Subway to fill her water bottle and spilled water all over the counter. Jordan jokingly threw a rag at her and said “clean it up.” Alicia being the non-athletic person she was, throws the rag back and it falls short of him. Embarrassing! In typical Alicia fashion, she could not stop ruminating on this encounter and decided to message him on Facebook to call herself out. The two went back and forth for hours…days…months. He understood her humor and sarcasm and would give it right back. They realized that they grew up in the same town and were attending the same college. They clicked, but Alicia was stubborn and ended up cutting off all communication for a few months. Ultimately, Alicia realized that she missed Jordan and that he was in fact her type. She reached out again and luckily things picked back up right where they left off. Towards the end of the year the two started hanging out a lot. They spent New Year’s Eve together and when the ball dropped you could tell that they wanted to kiss each other. Eventually, Jordan leaned in and the rest was history.
Back in November of 2019, Jordan and Alicia went to Clearwater, FL and fell in love with it. The hotel they stayed at was amazing and the beach was beautiful. They could not wait to go back and planned to go the following November. Sadly, the trip was canceled because of Covid. Finally, in May of 2021 they were able to go. Alicia was hopeful that Jordan would propose, but she really had no idea it was actually going to happen. In fact, she was getting a little discouraged because there were only two days left of vacation and he still hadn’t asked her. To her surprise, as she was having Jordan take pictures of her on their balcony he dropped to one knee. Yes! Yes! Yes! She cried so hard! She really had never been so happy. His proposal was perfect for them. They are very private people and to be alone on the balcony and take in this monumental moment in their lives was amazing and pure joy!
