Meet Us in St. Louis

In the Spring of 2020, Alicia and Joel were on their respective couches, stuck at home in the height of COVID lockdown. Both had joined Hinge, a dating app. Joel commented on Alicia’s picture of Iceland. For some reason, Alicia responded – probably because Joel wrote something clever and dashing. From there, they started talking on the phone, something Alicia hates doing, because they couldn’t meet in person. Eventually, at the end of May, they had their first date in person at Laumeier Sculpture Park. Alicia and Joel knew of each other previously through Ignite YP, a Jewish young professional organization, and later got to know each other through many of their programs. Over two years, friend groups merged, they traveled across the US, and Alicia realized how lucky she was to be dating Joel. (Joel was pretty lucky too.) After two years, Joel (with only a little bit of nudging) decided it was time to propose. Alicia and Joel got engaged Memorial Day Weekend 2022 in Hermann, Missouri on their two year anniversary.
