BWI , IAD , and DCA Airport Info

Frederick MD is about a half hour (depending traffic time) further into MD (west) than the suburbs of DC and Washington DC itself. We chose Frederick for a quieter, more spacious area further out from the city but not too far away to easily reach. Frederick MD is served by 3 major international airports (times below mapped on a weekend date): - Reagan airport (DCA) : 60 minutes from Frederick MD (city traffic) - Dulles airport (IAD) : 60 minutes from Frederick MD - Baltimore airport (BWI) : 50 minutes from Frederick MD Baltimore Washington International (BWI): smaller, easier to navigate, and the traffic patterns are easier than the Washington DC airports below. Alicia personally always flies into BWI unless there's a reason to be in DC. Washington DC is a place worth seeing if you want museums / history / international food. If you want to make that happen, consider these airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) - in the heart of Washington DC near the United States National Capitol. The furthest airport from Frederick, but if you want to prioritize the DC experience, this will land you right in it. Washington Dulles International (IAD) - slightly west, past Northern Virginia (Arlington and McLean are busy areas). This airport is not close to the DC city center but is an option if you need a different airport than BWI or if don't want to stay in the bustle of the city but might want closer access to it. This way is more for beautifully forested back-roads. The entire area is very active and thriving, the true melting pot of the country! If you have any questions orienting to it, please ask Alicia. We are very happy to support your experience and there are plenty of tricks to making it more efficient and fun.
