In the distant land of Amarillo, Alice and Steven began their doctorate degrees at Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy. With both of their homes being so far away, they began to spend a lot of time with each other when they weren't so busy with school. Even though they were almost polar opposites, they shared more common interests than originally thought. They both love indie rock music, high fashion, and the satisfaction of scoring killer deals. They also always procrastinated on studying and were usually the only two students left pulling all-nighters together at school before an exam. The relationship survived the cold winters of Amarillo, the last 2 years of pharmacy school back home in Dallas, all the way up to the present of their working careers. After countless concerts, shopping mall dates, and money saving tactics, "confirmed bachelor for life" Steven knew that Alice was the one and it was time for House Nguyen and House Lee to unite.

Alice and Steven had planned a week long vacation in London and Paris to celebrate her 27th birthday. Months prior, Steven had purchased the engagement ring and was in contact with a professional photographer from Paris. He was going to do it in front of the Eiffel Tower and they would get swept up by the allure of City of Love. Unfortunately, Alice is too smart for her own good and was fully prepared and expecting the exact moment. Still, she bawled happy tears as Steven got down on one knee, professed his love for her, and proposed with a $5 replica ring from Amazon (the real ring was safe stateside of course). She was, however, surprised at the glamorous engagement photo shoot that happened across the city afterwards.
