Nantucket is a small island 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. You can travel to Nantucket by boat (ferry) or by plane. September is a busy wedding month on Nantucket, so please reserve travel as soon as possible. Ferries should be booked at least one month in advance. If fast ferries are full when you reserve, traditional ferries (see Steamship Authority below) very rarely sell out of passenger tickets. Ferries leave from Hyannis (Barnstable), MA, which is a ~2 hour drive from Boston. Ferries arrive in "downtown" Nantucket, walking distance from our recommended hotels. Taxis and Uber/Lyft are easily accessed from both ferry terminals. Flights leave from / connect through Boston (BOS), New York City Area (JFK or EWR), White Plains (HPN), and Washington DC (DCA). They arrive at Nantucket's airport (ACK), which is a 10 minute drive from "downtown." Taxis and Uber/Lyft are easily accessed from the airport. Please see specific recommendations below.
