Isabella Stewart Gardner had so much money she built a castle to fill with art. Really unlike anywhere else. Tickets are for timed entry. Definitely buy your ticket online ahead of time.
A board game cafe in Brookline! Pay admission, then hang out and play games for as long as you want. On weekends, it can reach capacity early in the day, so plan to get there early or accept that you might need to wait for a while.

This path along the river runs for miles and is accessible from almost anywhere along the river. There are little parks, tons of wild geese, and the occasional beer garden.
Admire the penguins, touch a ray, marvel at a giant sea turtle. They do timed entry and sell out quickly, so buy a ticket in advance (best to do it the day before, at the very least).
