Another great thing to do when visiting Sonoma County! Our favorites: Wilson Winery, Mazzocco, Matrix, deLormier, Les Claypool's Purple Pachyderm (close to the venue!), Francis Ford Coppola Winery (especially fun for the view and movie paraphernalia!) Take a picnic to any of these and taste some of the best wine in the world (in our opinion!), Sonoma County is BEAUTIFUL in May, you can't go wrong!
Coffee: Retrograde - Sebastopol (cappuccino worthy) Hardcore - Sesbastopol (weird, artsy, classic old time Sebastopol - don't miss it) Roasters - Sebastopol & Forestville Cafe Aquatica - Jenner (add to your Bodega trip!) Taylor Lane - Sebastopol Restaurants: Fern Bar - Sebastopol (pricey cocktails but "it's a vibe". GF fried chicken is delish) Khom Loi - Sebastopol (Asian Fusion) Ramen Gaijin - Sebastopol Hopmonk Tavern - Sebastopol (Fun, casual, live music almost every night!) El Gallo Negro - Windsor (Great margs, good Mexican food) and... Psychic Pie (pizza), Handline (excellent soft serve and a lovely patio), Namaste Cafe & Himalayan Tandoori Cafe (Indian food), Underwood Bistro and Willow Wood Cafe (Alice loves the market plate and the open face egg salad sando!)
Probably our favorite stop when visiting Sonoma County. Make the loop and drive through Sebastopol then up the coast through Bodega Bay, stop at any one of the beautiful rustic beaches, grab a coffee in Jenner at Cafe Aquatica (a slight detour) and drive back through Guerneville!
Take a hike through Armstrong Redwoods Park! Alice & Ian love exploring this huge redwood grove!
There is endless hiking in Sonoma County and the greater Bay Area! Check all trails for specific hikes, but some areas to explore are Mount Tamalpais, Annadel State Park, Tamales Point, Point Reyes, Lands End, Marin Headlands, Armstrong Redwoods!
Alice grew up swimming in the Russian River, being only 5 minutes from home and an easy spot to go with friends after high school. We realize Ian's only been twice... whoops. Check out Mother's Beach, Steelehead or Johnson's Beach! (It'll still be cold in May, but worth exploring!
The very next weekend, 5/10-12, Alice will be vending her naturally dyed silks at the Davis Whole Earth Festival and Ian will be working with the Glass family business! Come see the enterprising spirits in action! If you're coming from Ashland and plan to stay through the week, this is a super easy stop on your way to I5!
For our friends and families with children! Ragle Park Forestville Youth Park Santa Rosa Children's Museum (very fun, Aida LOVES this museum!)
Explore the towns of Occidental and Healdsburg! Check out the tiny town of Forestville, which has a fun dive bar, a park and coffee shop. The Barlow in downtown Sebastopol has fun shopping, eating, coffee, bakeries and bars!
