We were childhood friends, the kind who spent hours texting and talking on the phone, even though we only saw each other occasionally at the Kingdom Hall when Alice’s family visited Dani’s congregation. Since we were still minors, the first time we finally met face-to-face on our own was at a special assembly. That day felt meaningful. Dani had always been kind, respectful, and easy to be around, qualities that left a lasting impression. As life moved forward, Dani relocated to Canada, and with time, we lost touch. Years later, out of the blue, a simple message appeared in Alice’s Instagram inbox: “Do you remember me?” In true Alice fashion, shy but playful, she replied: “I guess,” with a laugh. From that moment on, everything felt natural again. We picked up right where we left off, as if no time had passed at all.
