Some people say love arrives when you least expect it. Others believe in the Invisible String Theory, the idea that two people are connected by an unseen thread that pulls them toward each other at exactly the right moment. Whether it was fate, timing, or something greater, that invisible string was quietly weaving our story long before we ever met. Alice was born in 1997 and Edward in 1996, and though they didn’t know it, their paths crossed early. Both were baptized at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Parish. Later, Alice grew up in Chandler, Arizona, living with her family in an apartment complex on Hartford Street. After spending time in Queen Creek, Edward, his mother, and his sisters moved into an apartment complex on that same street less than a block away. Yet somehow, they never met. Life carried them in different directions. Alice went off to college and graduated. Edward joined the Marine Corps and served for eight years. Their strings stretched far, but never broke. After completing his service, Edward moved in with his grandmother, Maribel, while searching for work. Alice was living in Chandler with her Tía Luz and working in Phoenix. Eventually, Edward moved to Chandler with his grandma, Rita, and found a job at a security company in Chandler, where he met Neyva Rodriguez Alice’s Madrina. As Neyva got to know him, she noticed the qualities that would later matter so much: his kindness, respect, humility, and strength. On April 10, 2023, Alice’s brother, Manuel Sanchez, tragically passed away. Two weeks later, the family gathered for a Catholic Mass to honor him. After the service, as everyone talked and comforted one another, Alice sighed and said, “I am done with love, there are no good men anymore." Neyva overheard her and immediately thought of Edward. The next day, she asked Edward if he was single. When he said yes, she asked for his number so she could introduce him to someone special. Edward agreed, and the invisible string finally began to pull tight. A month later, Alice and Edward met for lunch. Alice insisted she only wanted to be friends. Edward, however, knew from the beginning that she was the woman he wanted to build a life with. He showed up for her everyday patient, genuine, consistent, and determined to prove the kind of man he was and always would be. Slowly, Alice began to see what Neyva had seen. She saw Edward’s heart, his loyalty, his tenderness, and his unwavering love. Eventually, she fell for him fully and fearlessly and confessed her love. Edward already knew. He knew he wanted to marry her, raise children with her, build a family, and grow old together. He knew it was true love. On December 21, 2024, he asked her to marry him. And now, here we are two lives, two hearts, and one invisible string that always knew where it was leading.
