Our First “Date”

Unbeknownst to her at the time, Alicea asked Isaac on their first date. Alicea was simply voicing her thoughts to Isaac after church one Sunday in October and mentioned that she was going to a coffee shop later that day. Isaac assumed she was hinting for him to ask her out but no she was clueless. He asked to tag along and then asked if he could drive. It wasn’t until Isaac paid for her coffee that Alicea started to question “What is happening?” She frantically texted her sister, Caitriona, to ask “is this a date??” It was in fact a date.

Applebee’s

Happy Birthday Kaeleigh!

Just a few days after the first date, Isaac asked Alicea to come celebrate his sister’s birthday at Applebee’s with some other friends. It was a good time until the checks came around. Isaac was bold and paid for both Alicea and Kaeleigh, his sister. Alicea was very thrown off by this because “only couples pay for each other’s food.” She was not a happy camper.

Coffee?

The very next day Alicea texted Isaac an ominous “can we talk later?” He was terrified that she was going to ghost him so to test the waters he asked if they should meet to talk at IBC or somewhere off campus. He figured “she’s not gonna want to ride back with me after an awkward conversation.” Alicea opted for a coffee shop. When they got there Isaac, tried to pay for Alicea’s coffee and being the awkward person that she is she said “It’s fine. I’m not getting anything.” A brief conversation over Isaac’s single tea, cleared up the air. Mutual interest was confirmed.

Turkey Run

Isaac and Alicea decided to go to Turkey Run State Park for a picnic, hike, and hammock date. Alicea made a picnic meal of sandwiches and fruit—which apparently wasn’t enough food for Isaac, but more on that later. After a relaxing lunch, they took a trail and ended up getting completely turned around. They had a dog with them as well, and at one point, Isaac had to carry the dog down a ladder—and actually for a large section of the trail where there was water from heavy rains the week before. After finally making it out of the woods, they set up their hammocks and took the Enneagram test together. Isaac eventually came and sat in Alicea’s hammock, and they had some really good conversation. That day, sitting in the hammock together, was when they both began to think, “this is my forever person.” When they finally got back that evening, Alicea offered to make dinner. All she had was some leftover chicken, sweet potatoes (which Isaac does not like), and broccoli. They ate together and then parted ways. For some reason, once Alicea got back home, she decided to check Isaac’s location—and come to find out, he had gone through the Wendy’s drive-thru! Apparently, Alicea’s bird diet was not enough for a growing boy, ha!
