On January 7, 2016 I got a phone call from my mom while I was driving home from Dallas to visit. My mom and sister, Lauren told me that they had set me up on a blind date that weekend with one of my brother-in-law’s co-workers. I was in disbelief...I had never been on a blind date before! I laughed, asked a lot of questions, and refused to go; but after a few bribes, I agreed to give it a try and go on the date. Little did I know, I was agreeing to go on a date with my future husband. I later found out that earlier in the week, Zach had received an unusual message from a work acquaintance (my brother-in-law) asking if he was married. Zach told Danny he was not married, and then inquired to why he was asking. Not leaving any time for speculation, Danny immediately told Zach that his sister-in-law would be in town that weekend and asked if he would be interested in taking her out on a date. Like any millennial, Zach went straight to the internet and did a bit of research. After some research, he asked Danny a few more questions about me and learned that I was a nurse, loved to travel and enjoyed music and swimming. So, he asked Danny for my number, called me the next day, and asked me out on our first date. That weekend he drove us to Tyler, and I still make fun of Zach for getting so wrapped up in our conversation that he made several wrong turns on the way. We ate dinner, talked about music, our hobbies, work, and our love for Jesus Christ. Things went well, but it wasn’t until our drive home when we played our favorite songs, danced, and sang all the way home that we quickly realized we had found something much more than we had expected. After that first blind date, we kept talking and visiting each other. Over the past two and a half years, we have learned and grown through Christ to unconditionally love and respect one another; and we are so excited to start a new journey together as husband and wife!
